.Today is World Suicide Prevention Day. We hold those who are feeling over burdened, and families who are grieving, in our prayers today. May you know the peace of God’s loving embrace.
Psalm 98 O sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvellous things. His right hand and his holy arm have gained him victory. The Lord has made known his victory; he has revealed his vindication in the sight of the nations. He has remembered his steadfast love and faithfulness to the house of Israel. All the ends of the earth have seen the victory of our God. Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises. Sing praises to the Lord with the lyre, with the lyre and the sound of melody. With trumpets and the sound of the horn make a joyful noise before the King, the Lord. Let the sea roar, and all that fills it; the world and those who live in it. Let the floods clap their hands; let the hills sing together for joy at the presence of the Lord, for he is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with equity Psalm 138 I will give thanks to you, O Lord, with my whole heart; ♦︎ before the gods will I sing praise to you. I will bow down towards your holy temple and praise your name, because of your love and faithfulness; ♦︎ for you have glorified your name and your word above all things. In the day that I called to you, you answered me; ♦︎ you put new strength in my soul. All the kings of the earth shall praise you, O Lord, ♦︎ for they have heard the words of your mouth. They shall sing of the ways of the Lord, ♦︎ that great is the glory of the Lord. Though the Lord be high, he watches over the lowly; ♦︎ as for the proud, he regards them from afar. Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you will preserve me; ♦︎ you will stretch forth your hand against the fury of my enemies; your right hand will save me. The Lord shall make good his purpose for me; ♦︎ your loving-kindness, O Lord, endures for ever; forsake not the work of your hands. Isaiah 7:10-15 Again the Lord spoke to Ahaz, saying, Ask a sign of the Lord your God; let it be deep as Sheol or high as heaven. But Ahaz said, I will not ask, and I will not put the Lord to the test. Then Isaiah* said: ‘Hear then, O house of David! Is it too little for you to weary mortals, that you weary my God also? Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Look, the young woman* is with child and shall bear a son, and shall name him Immanuel.* He shall eat curds and honey by the time he knows how to refuse the evil and choose the good. Acts 1:6-14 So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, is this the time when you will restore the kingdom to Israel?” He replied, “It is not for you to know the times or periods that the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” When he had said this, as they were watching, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. While he was going and they were gazing up toward heaven, suddenly two men in white robes stood by them. They said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking up toward heaven? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.” Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a sabbath day’s journey away. When they had entered the city, they went to the room upstairs where they were staying, Peter, and John, and James, and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James son of Alphaeus, and Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James. All these were constantly devoting themselves to prayer, together with certain women, including Mary the mother of Jesus, as well as his brothers. Collect : The Birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary Almighty God, who looked upon the lowliness of the Blessed Virgin Mary and chose her to be the mother of your only Son: grant that we who are redeemed by his blood may share with her in the glory of your eternal kingdom; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever,Amen. The Collect of the Day: Collect : The Thirteenth Sunday after Trinity Almighty God, who called your Church to bear witness that you were in Christ reconciling the world to yourself: Help us to proclaim the good news of your love, that all who hear it may be drawn to you; through him who was lifted up on the cross, and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. |
